REPORT by Barry Campling
UNDERSTANDING HEALING PROCESSES AND CREATING HEALTH.
A three day course given in Johannesburg by Peter Von Maltitz
14th – 16th April 2003
Very few health practitioners approach the subject of health
and healing from such different vantage points and with such
catching enthusiasm as Peter Von Maltitz.
Peter opened the course with a famous quotation by
Jan Smuts that ‘the whole is more than the sum of the
parts,’ a phrase which seamed to be reflected in the
whole way he executed the course. A carefully planned,
systematic and yet concise approach starting with the
very basic fundamentals of health was relayed with a
lively sense of humour and catching laughter which made
one feel warmly part of the knowledge acquired and which
one felt could be effectively applied to those closest
and furthest who at one time or another feel out of
sorts or even ill.
Knowledge of the role of all the main organs, sources
and metamorphosis of illnesses, their relationship to
emotional and thinking patterns, character and the four
temperaments have all found their right place making
it easily comprehensible. The course was based
on the principle of Holism as expounded by Hering at
the beginning of the last century, information of the
effects and connections of worms and parasites (the
’nasties’, as he put it), with illnesses, gleaned
from the writings of Hulda Clark, and the temperaments
with their attendant qualities as described by Rudolph
Steiner.
The final day of the three day course might well be
a challenge to many people’s mode of thinking (but it
seemed not to any in our group) when aspects of Chinese
medicine and knowledge of the chakra system of the human
being were introduced and incorporated as an essential
part of the whole. This rounding off infused a sense
of well being if not a desire to know more.
As for us S. Africans and those curious about the uniqueness
of S. Africa, we were supplied with the occasional tips
on the use of S. African indigenous plants, which we
suspect was only the tip of a large iceberg of knowledge
acquired as a sangoma, (an African shaman) and finally
fittingly concluded with an African dance specially
chosen to make sure that everything was shaken into
place!
Thank you Peter for a most fascinating and surely rare
course in the realm of healing and health!
